History Morning: The Train at the End of the World
The adventure starts early, with pick-up at your accommodation between 07:00 and 08:00 am. Our first stop is the Fuegian Southern Railway Station.
On board this vintage railway, with its majestic steam locomotives and elegant carriages with large windows, you will travel along part of the original route of the old prisoner's train. As you enter inaccessible parts of the Tierra del Fuego National ParkYou can listen to the story of the inmates in 7 different languages through an individual audio system. The journey will allow you to marvel at the zigzagging Pipo River, La Macarena Waterfall, the Paseo del Valle and the mystical "cemetery of trees", all framed by a dense lenga forest.
Terrestrial Exploration: Tierra del Fuego National Park
At the end of the railway journey at the National Park Station, we will continue our exploration of the protected area of the sub-Antarctic forest. We will visit strategic points of breathtaking natural beauty:
- Ensenada Bay: Where the southernmost post office is located.
- Lake Acigami: An imposing body of water of glacial origin surrounded by mountains.
- Alakush Centre: Interpretation area to learn about the autochthonous flora and fauna.
- Lapataia Bay: The end of the emblematic Ruta Panamericana N° 3.
After walking along its famous walkways and taking the usual photographs at the "End of the World" sign, we will return to the city of Ushuaia. You will have about an hour at leisure to have lunch and recharge your batteries before the second part of the day.
Afternoon Sailing: The Mythical Beagle Channel
At 2:30 pm, we will meet at the ticket office of the tourist port (port tax already included in your booking). We will sail across the bay of Ushuaia towards the Beagle Channelthe inter-oceanic passage that connects the Atlantic and the Pacific.
Our first major destination will be the Les Eclaireurs Lighthousethe authentic symbol of Tierra del Fuego. Afterwards, we will sail towards the Bridges Archipelago to approach the Isla de los Loboswhere we will see one- and two-furred specimens, and the Bird Islandhome to imperial cormorants, king cormorants, albatrosses and skuas.
If weather conditions permit, we will carry out a descent on Karelo Island. There, we will make a short guided trekking to learn about the history of the ancient native Yamanas and reach a panoramic point with incredible views of the city and the mountains. We will end the journey returning to the port with an unforgettable postcard of Ushuaia from the sea.
