The Journey East: Valleys and Beavers

Our day starts at around 09:00 amWe will pick you up at your accommodation in Ushuaia. We start the tour through the emblematic National Route 3We will travel away from the city and into the heart of the island.

Along the way, we will make several strategic stops so that you can capture the essence of the Fuegian landscape. The first stop will be at the Carbajal Valley Viewpointwhere you can observe the immensity of the peat bogs surrounded by the peaks of the Sierra Alvear. 

Puerto Almanza: The Gastronomic Heart of the South

We leave Route 3 to take the Route JThe road winds its way through lenga forests and offers incredible views of the coastline of the Beagle Channel. Our destination is Port AlmanzaThe southernmost fishing settlement in Argentina. This small town is world famous for the quality of its seafood, especially spider crabs and mussels.

Once there, we will enjoy an included lunch at a local restaurant. The gastronomic experience is designed for you to taste the typical dishes of the region, prepared with fresh products caught in the cold waters of the canal. Lunch includes a starter, main course and one non-alcoholic drink per person, ensuring a pleasant break before continuing the adventure.

Ruca Kellen: Strawberries, Tea and Yaghan Culture

After lunch, the adventure moves on to Ruca Kellena charming, productive farm that defies the southern climate. This establishment is known for its strawberry cultivationWe will take a tour of the crops to learn the secrets of farming at the end of the world. We will take a tour through the crops to learn the secrets of agriculture at the end of the world.

But Ruca Kellen is much more than a farm. The property has a unique thematic space dedicated to the culture of the Yaghan peoplethe original inhabitants of these coasts. Through this cultural tour, you will explore the way of life, beliefs and history of this canoe people who inhabited the region thousands of years ago.

To round off this unforgettable experience, we will relax in the warmth of the tea house. Here, each traveller can enjoy a hot drink (tea or coffee) accompanied by something sweet and homemade, while contemplating the serene landscape surrounding the farm.

Return to Ushuaia

Finally, we will make our way back to the city, leaving behind a day full of anecdotes, authentic flavours and indelible memories of a very special trip to the heart of the Beagle.

• Comfortable and warm clothing: Layering is recommended to adapt to changes in temperature between outside and indoors.
• Walking shoes: Although this is not a high mountain hike, we will use nature trails on the farm and scenic stops.
• Water bottle: It is essential to stay hydrated during transfers.
• Camera: The views of the Beagle Channel and the Chilean coast are not to be missed.
