We invite you to explore the Tierra del Fuego National ParkA natural sanctuary of almost 70,000 hectares where the Andes Mountains meet the sea. This excursion is a must for those who wish to connect with the untouched nature of the extreme south and learn about the living history of the Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego.
The Beginning of the Adventure: From the Hotel to the Train at the End of the World
Our day starts early, at 8:00 a.m., with our Pick Up directly at your accommodation. After travelling just 8 kilometres along the emblematic National Route 3, between snow-covered forests and the unique white scenery of the Fuegian winter, we will arrive at the historic Fuegian Southern Railway Station.
Here, travellers have the optional opportunity to board the legendary End of the World Train. On a magnificent 7-kilometre route, you will travel along the same path that the prisoners of the old Ushuaia prison used to walk at the beginning of the 20th century. Aboard elegant carriages, you will pass through snowy forests of lenga trees, frost-covered peat bogs and the spectacular La Macarena waterfall on the Paseo del Valle, while the on-board narration immerses you in the city's penal past.
For those passengers who prefer not to do the railway section, our transport will continue the journey into the interior of the park, a protected area of unique biodiversity dedicated to the preservation of the sub-Antarctic forest. During the winter, the snow completely transforms the landscape, creating unforgettable postcards. We will meet up with the rest of the group at the final station to continue our joint exploration to the most remote points of the reserve.
Glacial Landscapes: Lake Acigami and the Alakush Centre
Continuing our journey, we will head for the Lake Acigami (also known as Roca Lake). This glacial water mirror, shared with the neighbouring Republic of Chile, offers an environment of absolute peace. Its crystal clear waters, surrounded by snow-capped mountains and winter forests, framed by the Cóndor and Guanaco hills, are the perfect scenery to observe the behaviour of native birds such as the cauquenes and the steamer duck.
Afterwards, we will visit the Alakush Interpretation Centre. This museum space is fundamental to understand the magnitude of the ecosystem we are visiting. Here you can learn about the geology of the area and the culture of the YámanasThe original inhabitants who sailed these coasts in canoes thousands of years ago.
Lapataia Bay: The End of the Panamerican Route
The highlight of the day comes with a visit to the Lapataia Bay. This site has an unparalleled symbolic value: it is the end of the Pan-American Route. This is the end of the road system that connects the entire American continent, from Alaska to this precise point in the south of Argentina. We will walk along its wooden footbridges surrounded by snow and fresh air, breathing the essence of the Fuegian winter before setting off on the comfortable return to the city of Ushuaia.
