The best plans with children in Ushuaia
Travelling to Ushuaia with children is not an impediment. Our city is adapted for any visitor willing to enjoy an unforgettable experience. Today we tell you what options you can do in Ushuaia with the little ones.
1. Take the excursion to the National Park together with the End of the World Train. On this excursion you will be able to visit the most emblematic places of the park and take short walks accompanied by a tour guide who will show you the importance of this protected area. You will also be able to connect this excursion with the End of the World Train, although it is not the same train that took the prisoners until 1947, but you will be able to listen to the history of the Presidio and observe the forest cut down by them.
2. Lunch at the Almacén de Ramos Generales. This house is very close to the port and belonged to the Lebanese Don José Salomón, who arrived there at the beginning of the 20th century and built his family home and the general store there. For many years it was a cultural and social meeting place, receiving many important people who visited the end of the world. It even hosted some castaways from the Monte Cervantes, a luxurious cruise ship that ran aground near the Les Eclaireurs lighthouse in 1930. What is striking about this place is that it retains the almost original furniture and has shelves full of objects that were sold in the Warehouse decades ago. That's what makes it interesting to go with children as they can observe (without touching!) things that are hardly used anymore.
3. Of the museums, the one that best suits all ages is the Galería Temática Historia Fueguina (Thematic Gallery of Fuegian History). There are more than 30 scenes of regional history with life-size figures. Starting with the natives who inhabited the island, followed by explorers, gold diggers, the Presidio, among others. It is ideal to go with children because in many rooms you can interact, such as getting into a Yaghan canoe or simulating being in a prison cell. They also give you headphones to listen to the audio guide and really feel the experience.
4. You can get to know the city through the City Tour. You will travel through the history of Ushuaia on top of a bus and make stops at panoramic points that you might not have known before. Besides visiting the less touristic places that are part of the identity of this place.
5. Another option is to take the navigation of the Beagle Channel. We visit the colony of imperial cormorants, black and white birds similar to penguins but their main difference is that they fly. We also stop to see the sea lion colony and the Les Eclaireurs lighthouse. You only go down to an island where there is no colony of animals but you will get a panoramic view of the city of Ushuaia. Remember that our boat has heating, cafeteria and bathroom on board.
The End of the World is welcome for the whole family to enjoy, from the youngest to the oldest. Don't hesitate to write to us to ask about excursions and plan your stay in advance.
